David and Elmers Fishing Trip

When I wrote the story about Ted, David said "Do Me Do Me"
So thought I would tell you the fishing story and how we almost lost David.
Elmer and David decided to go fishing east of the mountains. They loaded up the truck and took their boat and all their equipment, snacks galore etc. They were going to float down the river and fish for trout. It had been a rough couple of months as far as rain was concerned and the river was well upon its banks and flowing rapidly. It was not a wise decision, but for two
confirmed fishermen, it was a perfect day. THE SUN WAS SHINING.
All went well, until something happened and the boat overturned and threw them into icy cold rushing water. David went under and almost drowned. They lost their fish, they lost their lunch, they lost their equipment and we almost lost David. Elmer lost his billfold, but they saved themselves and the boat and got home safe.
Elmer of course, had to do the usual and get new paperwork and he regreted the $100 bill he always stored in his billfold for emergencies.
The following summer Elmer and I were going over the mountains to gather some weeds for flower arrangements. When we passed the place where they had put the boat in, Elmer said lets go see if we can find my billfold. I said "Yeah, Right, like thats going to happen" It had been a year at least. But he insisted, so we prayed and then went into the river and because it was really low we walked along the area where they had fished. Elmer started searching in the sandbar in the middle of the river and I was walking along the bank, not really looking.
Suddenly he shouted, I found it and I didn't believe him, but he did actually find his billfold. All of his papers had disintegrated, but there were pieces of his $100 bill still there. I still have those pieces.
Our miracle was they did not drown and the fun was, he found his billfold.
