Thomas Jefferson Howard

We are going back for this one.Thomas J Howard was the ancestor of Rackcian Howard who married John Frederick Heid in Kentucky.Thomas was born the 19 October 1806 in a small house on the James River near Richmond, Virginia. He was the son of Captain Edward and Frances (Adams) Howard. His mothers father, Captain Robert Adams enlisted in the Revolutionary war at 16 and came out a Captain at the end of the war. Thomas's parents had a family of seven sons and one daughter. Thomas was the second son and he was 8 years old when his father died. He came to Daviess County, Kentucky in 1828. He married Persis Barnhill December 22 1829 in Kentucky. Persis was born in Oldham County, Kentucky on January 20, 1808 and she was the daughter of James and Hannah(Boone) Barnhill. She was a second cousin to Daniel Boone the famous explorer.
After Thomas and Persis were married they settled in the timber on Green River, near Hartford. Ohio County, Kentucky and farmed until 1842. While there a pack of wolves killed all their sheep and so they moved into the old homestead in Masonville Precinct, Daviess, Kentucky. Thomas taught school here for a number of years and was a fine influence in the community. He was a Christian and a member of the Baptist church for years, but in 1830 joined the Methodist church and was a member until his death. He died March 27, 1881. He and Persis had nine children and six of them lived to be men and women.( Our line )Joseph George Howard was born February 18 1838 and married Elizabeth A Cook, July 14, 1860.

I just found out the other day that there is a Daniel Boone historical museum about 15 minutes from where I live. Ashley and I are going to check it out sometime this summer. I love these stories. Its really cool to hear the name "Edward" used so far back in the Heid family tree.
